The Idea
A warning leaflet is easy for a teenager to ignore. Zero Tolerance was designed as a magazine a teenager would choose to read, with music, art, horoscopes and guerrilla gardening.
The social subjects sit among those pages. The pilot issue covers bullying, identity and human trafficking and it tells readers where to ask for help.
The project had the support of the Greek Ombudsman.
The Issue
Issue 0, the pilot, was printed in spring 2014. Its cover line reads “Dream the change. Be the change.”
Ersi developed the concept with the Love146 team and chose the themes. She found the contributors, produced the photo shoots and directed the look of every page.
Graphic design: Eva Xioni. Photography, in some sections: Jeremiah Stanley.
The music section included a feature on Pridon.
The Design
The cover is a field of straw crossed by a single black band. The masthead sets a line-drawn ZERO against a heavy TOLERANCE.
Inside, every article opens under the same black rule. Each one then takes its own colours, lettering and illustration, so the issue reads as many voices in one frame.
